The Parish



St. Cadoc’s is parish of the Catholic Archdiocese of Cardiff in Wales United Kingdom. The current Archbishop is MostRev. Peter Smith.

St. Cadoc’s was founded in 1956 and covers the areas of Llanrumney and Old St. Mellon’s, suburbs of the City of Cardiff. Many of its inhabitants came from other areas of the city when the new estate was built after the Second World War. The parish covers both Council and privately owned housing areas and has its own Catholic Primary School which was opened in 1958. Children from the area also attend St. Illtyd’s Catholic High School and St. John’s Catholic College (an independent school) which is in the parish.

The parish is a warm and welcoming community with parishioners either from or descended from Irish, Italian, Maltese, Caribbean, Indian, Scottish, English as well as Welsh communities.A multipurpose building opened in 1956 as the Church and Hall has now had the addition of a new Church opened in 1987 with the older building now exclusively used as a parish Hall.

The parish has various groups such as The St. Vincent de Paul Society, The Union of Catholic Mother’s (Wales) as well as Children’s Liturgy at the 11am Mass. The parish hall also hosts (although not affiliated to) The Llanrumney Seniors, St. John’s Ambulance, A ladies Guild and Slimming World groups.
